Thief

The fight begins before the first strike.

The way of the Thief.

Find the moment others miss. Open from the shadows, turn wounds and venom into pressure, and keep a dangerous opponent off balance.

Prepare a trap before combat. Open with Backstab, keep wounds working with Circle, and use Sap, venom, and misdirection to make room for your party.

SNEAK

Level: T2
Cost: none

Move quietly enough that your arrivals and departures go unnoticed by ordinary
observers. Sneaking lasts for a while, allowing you to travel without
announcing every step.

Sneaking does not make you invisible or hide your presence from someone who
looks into the room.

Usage: sneak

Details: The time you can keep moving silently increases with your level.

A thief can sometimes pick the lock of a closed door or container without

missing keyhole, or an open or unlocked door or container.

Help Tag : steal

STEAL

Level: T1
Cost: none

Lift gold or a carried item from a creature without openly challenging it. You
cannot steal from other players or commit theft in a peaceful room.

An alert victim may notice your hands and retaliate. A sleeping creature is
easier to rob, though trying to remove its worn equipment may wake it. You
must have room to carry what you take.

Usage: steal gold <target>
       steal <item> <target>

Details: Dexterity helps you escape notice. Higher-level victims and heavy
carried items make theft more difficult.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Help Tag : backstab
Help Keywords : BACKSTAB
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
BACKSTAB

Level: T1
Cost: none

Open a fight with a precise strike from a piercing or stabbing weapon. Your
target must be unhurt and not already engaged in combat. An alert creature may
spot your approach.

A landed backstab opens your own bleeding wound on the victim, dealing 20% of
its base damage each round for 6 rounds. Circle can renew that wound during
the fight, and a ninja can strengthen it with Caustic Ash.

The strike leaves you recovering for 2 combat rounds through level 12, and 3
rounds at higher levels. It cannot be used against other players.

Usage: backstab <target>

Details: Damage scales with your level, and Dexterity helps your ambush
         succeed.

CIRCLE

Level: T15
Cost: none

Slip around a foe while someone else holds its attention and drive a piercing
or stabbing weapon into an exposed opening. You cannot circle an enemy that is
fighting you. The maneuver leaves you recovering for 3 combat rounds.

A landed circle opens a wound that bleeds 10% of its base damage for 6 rounds.
If your backstab wound is still active, Circle renews that stronger wound
instead of replacing it. A ninja can strengthen the wound with Caustic Ash.

Usage: circle [target]

Details: Damage scales with your level. Shadowstep increases the damage of
your next landed Circle by 50%.

SHADOWSTEP

Level: T22

While an ally holds your opponent's attention, melt into the shadows behind
it. If you land a Circle within the next 3 combat rounds, that strike deals
50% more damage.

You must already be in combat with a foe that is fighting someone else. Using
Shadowstep takes 1 combat round of recovery, and the advantage fades if you do
not land a Circle in time.

Usage: shadowstep

Level: T7
Cost: none

You cannot trip someone already on the ground. Players and protected
companions cannot be targeted. The attempt leaves you recovering for 2 combat
rounds, whether or not it succeeds.

Usage: trip [target]

Details: Dexterity helps the maneuver. Stronger opponents are harder to bring
down, especially those more than 5 levels above you.

ENVENOM

Level: T16
Cost: 15 Movement Points (V)

Coat a wielded blade with glistening venom for its next 10 landed hits.
Ordinary weapon blows, Backstab and Circle can carry venom into a wound, where
it burns for several combat rounds.

The coating belongs to that blade. Changing weapons can waste the remaining
coating. Preparing venom takes a combat round of recovery, halved by Fast
Hands.

Usage: envenom

Details: Dexterity lengthens the poison, up to 8 rounds, and your level
strengthens its damage. Weapon venom can coexist with spell poison.

combat round. This also works when you automatically assist your group. You
must be ready to act; Fast Hands cannot cancel recovery already underway.

Quick fingers and practiced timing let you tend a poisoned blade or work a

SAP

Level: T14
Cost: 20 Movement Points (V)

A carefully placed blow leaves an unsuspecting creature senseless until it is
engaged or you leave the room. There is no timed limit. While it is disabled,
your group can turn its attention to the other enemies nearby.

The target must not be engaged in combat. Any hostile attempt against it wakes
it, even a missed attack or a resisted spell. Ongoing damage also wakes it.
Sapping another creature releases your previous victim.

Creatures immune to sleep cannot be sapped. A failed attempt alerts the target
and starts a fight. This skill cannot be used against players or protected
companions.

Usage: sap <target>

Details: Dexterity helps your blow land. Creatures above your level are harder

SPRINGBLADE TRAP

Level: T18
Cost: 20 Movement Points (V) to prepare

Conceal a tightly wound blade before battle, then release it when a chosen foe
comes within reach. The blade delivers one heavy physical strike against a
creature in your room. It opens no bleeding wound and carries no venom from
your weapon. Physical defenses can soften the strike.

Prepare the trap outside combat and spring it at a moment of your choosing. It
is spent after one use. You can keep only one trap armed, and leaving the room
dismantles it. Players and protected companions cannot be targeted.

Usage: trap springblade

SNARE TRAP

A concealed loop snaps tight around a chosen foe, hampering its flurry of
blows. For 3 combat rounds, the creature makes one fewer attack each round.

Prepare the snare before combat, then spring it against a creature in your
room. It is spent after one use. You can keep only one trap armed, and leaving
the room dismantles it. Players and protected companions cannot be targeted.

Usage: trap snare
       spring [target]

Details: A snare can hinder a creature already slowed by a bard. Further

SCOUNDREL'S FORTUNE

Level: T28
Cost: passive

Even when the spoils seem picked clean, an observant thief can spot a glint
that others have missed. If your normal chance to find forged gear fails,
Scoundrel's Fortune offers one more chance to uncover a prize.

Your companions share this gift while a trained thief is alive and with the
group in the room. Each person gets a separate second chance. A normal find
receives no second chance, and the fallen creature's usual Forge tier, theme
and drop limits still apply.

Items uncovered through Scoundrel's Fortune roll their quality and Mythic
chance normally.

Usage: (passive skill)

Details: At 15 Dexterity or less, the second chance is 2%. Each point above 15
adds 0.2 percentage points, reaching 4% at 25 Dexterity. Multiple
thieves use the best chance among them; their chances do not add
